We independently test AI tools so buyers don't have to rely on vendor marketing. Every tool on this site is tested against the same capabilities, quality, and price criteria, described in full on our Methodology page, so a score means the same thing whether the tool is a household name or something you have never heard of before.
We started this site because most "best AI tool" lists online are affiliate-driven content farms that never actually use the products they rank, or worse, are lightly reworded vendor comparison pages. We wanted a place where a tool's rank comes from real, hands-on testing every time, not from whichever company pays the highest commission that month.
Our Mission
AI tools are shipping new models and features faster than almost any other software category in recent memory, and the gap between a vendor's marketing claims and what a tool actually does in daily use has never been wider. Our mission is to close that gap: to give you a score you can trust, built from actually using each tool the way a real person would, not from a demo video or a press release.
How We Test
Every tool on this site goes through the same process. We sign up for the actual paid and free tiers ourselves, run a standard set of real-world prompts and tasks across writing, coding, image generation, and other categories depending on what the tool claims to do, and track the results over at least two weeks of regular use before publishing a score. We do not accept a vendor's own benchmark numbers at face value; where a tool claims a specific capability, like coding accuracy or image fidelity, we verify it ourselves with tasks we control.
Because AI models update frequently, sometimes multiple times in a single month, we do not treat a review as a one-time snapshot. We re-test continuously throughout the year and refresh scores whenever a vendor ships a major model update or a pricing change, so a review published six months ago should still reflect how the tool performs today.
Our Editorial Standards
Some of the links on this site are affiliate links, and we say so plainly on our Disclosure page. That relationship never changes what we write. We do not accept payment for a positive review, we do not let a vendor preview a review before publication, and a tool's rank is calculated from the same weighted formula every time, whether or not that vendor pays a commission on a signup. If a tool that pays a higher commission also happens to score lower on capabilities or quality, it still ranks lower.
We also correct mistakes publicly. If a reader flags an error, whether it is an outdated price or a feature that has since changed, we investigate and update the article rather than quietly editing the page and pretending it was always accurate.
Which Tools We Cover
We focus on consumer and small-team AI tools across eight categories: writing, image generation, video, coding, chatbots, SEO, productivity, and free options. We do not cover enterprise AI platforms sold through sales calls and custom contracts, since that is a different buying decision with a different audience entirely. Within our scope, we prioritize tools that are widely available, actively maintained with regular updates, and something you could realistically sign up for today.
